Designing a Multi-Power Supply Circuit: A Guide to PCB Implementation

A power supply is an electrical device that supplies electric power to an electrical load.

  • DC Power Supply: A DC power supply is one that supplies a constant DC voltage to its load. Depending on its design, a DC power supply may be powered from a DC source or from an AC source such as the power mains.

  • We have designed a voltage Regulator that gives a fixed DC output. For that, we first convert the AC power supply to DC and then use a stepdown transformer to convert high Voltage to required voltage levels.

  • Here we are converting Main DC power supply to 3.3V, 5V, 9V using different Regulator ICs,

  • To get 3.3V DC output we use LD33 regulator IC.

  • To get 5V DC output we use 7805 Regulator IC.

  • To get 9V DC output we use 7809 Regulator IC. Let us now design a Schematic of Multi power supply unit.

Firstly we design a DC power supply that converts 220V AC voltage to 12V DC supply, And then we use different Regulator ICs to convert the 12V DC supply to the required DC supply.

Let us now convert this Schematic to Layout diagram, In layout we choose footprint of respective components and place them in the layout area, then rout them using bottom layer wire.

And at last, we can generate a 3D Diagram of our Multi power supply by selecting a proper 3D model of each component.
